At Green Tree Nursery our motto has always been "our nursery stock begins one seed at a time". Each tree progresses through an 11 step process that results in the delivery of quality rootstock to your farm.

We have calculated that, during the full production cycle of a growing season, a field production employee crawls over 15 miles performing the critical 11 steps to develop the quality tree that you receive at planting time. Every one of our trees is literally hand grown.

The craft of growing a tree begins by hand planting each seed to ensure a straight root. Shaping the tree by hand, suckering and staking all ensure a perfect tree.

We would like to invite you to our growing grounds so that you can get a first hand look at these handmade trees.

There are many variables in growing good nursery stock. Variables such as weather and temperature are relatively uncontrollable.

However, when it comes to clean stock, we have an opportunity to keep this in check. By using techniques such as rotating the growing grounds on a three year cycle, inter-planting with green manure crops, using high grade compost, using the cleanest irrigation water available and applying winter spray techniques our efforts surpass most other nursery operations.

Green Tree Nursery takes pride in delivering you, our customer, the most disease-free stock available on the market today.

Digout, or Tree Harvest, takes place in the winter months of December, January and February.

Like good wine, we never dig the nursery stock until it is the proper time. The stock must be in its dormant stage.

Grading the nursery stock to perfection is a must at Green Tree Nursery. Protecting the exposed roots from the harsh winter conditions is always of utmost concern.

Proper storage of the stock at post harvest is possibly the most neglected harvest production cycle in the nursery industry.

Green Tree Nursery pays particular attention to this cycle in preparing and maintaining the healing in grounds to perfection, ensuring healthy root systems. Green Tree always recommends that cold storage trees be packed in bins with a pack media for proper storage.
