Bing
- Midseason / harvest. Fruit is large, firm, juicy, dark red excellent
quality fruit. Productive variety is the industry standard of
quality for California's shipping cherry industry. Produces some
spurs and doubles in warmer parts of the Central Valley. Needs
a pollinator.
Brooks
- Ripens ahead of Bing. Large, firm, well colored fruit. Is a
good producer. Developed by the University of California. Has
a few doubles in warmer climates. Has good keeping quality. Pollinator
required. (Patent #6676)
Black
Tartarian - Primarily used as a pollinator. Produces smaller,
softer fruit. Early Burlat - Early harvest, approximately two
weeks before Bing. Produces large, medium firm, dark red fruit.
Pollinates Bing. Needs a pollinator.
Chelan
- Fruit ripens two weeks ahead of Bing. Produces firm, round heart
shaped fruit of good size. Ships well. Needs a pollinator.
Lapin
- Late harvest maturing ten to two weeks after Bing. Produces
large, mahogany red fruit with excellent firmness and flavor.
Does not require a pollinator.
Rainier
- Ripens after Bing. Produces large, firm yellow fruit with a
red blush. Exceptional flavor. Consistent, vigorous producer.
Resists cracking, spurs and doubles. Needs a pollinator.
Index
- Ripens a few days before Bing. Produces medium sized, firm fruit
of good dessert quality. Is susceptible to cracking. Fruit stores
well. Does not need a pollinator.
