Distance between rows and between tress is approximately the same. Distance between trees in a row is much closer then in any other pattern. Interplanting a tree in the center of four trees in a square planting. (DIAMOND) All trees are the same distance from each other.

Square & Hedgerow Plantings
Tree Spacings - Distance between tress within a row.

To find trees per acre in square or hedgerow plantings, locate your row spacing on the left-hand side of the chart and follow this line across to the column for your tree spacing, labeled at the top of the column.

Finding the Number of Trees Per Acre

Square or Hedgerow Plantings
Multiply the distance between rows by the distance between trees and divide into 43560.

Triangle Plantings
Multiply the distance between trees by itself (square the distance between trees), divide into 43560, and add 15% to the results of the division.

Double Plantings
Divide the distance between two interplant rows into 208. Divide the distance between two trees within a single row into 208. Add the results of these two divisions. Save this number for the last step. Multiply the distance between two trees within a row and divide into 43560. Double this number and reduce it by the sum of the two divisions.
